Guidelines for Front Door Hardware Edit page

Please review the following guidelines before selecting your door hardware.  There are many hardware manufacturers and styles.  The pictures below are visual examples only and are not meant to specify a specific manufacturer or model.

All hardware requires pre-approval by the Architectural Committee.  Please fill out this online form when you have selected your hardware.

Entry Lockset Replacement

Owners may replace their entry door lockset using the following guidelines:

• Hardware finishes must be of the following types:

• Door handles should have a simple, elegant design. The lockset frames should have simple, rectangular shapes with raised edges that are scalloped or squared. 

• The lockset can consist of either an integrated handle/deadbolt combination or a separate handle/deadbolt. If the deadbolt is separate it must be of substantially the same style, color and finish as the handle.

• If the owner or resident wishes to install an additional deadbolt then the finish and color of the additional deadbolt must be substantially similar to the color and finish of the main handle / lockset.

• Lockset (handle + deadbolt) dimensions cannot exceed 18 inches high by 3 inches wide.

Door Knockers, Hooks or Other Attached Hardware

• All such hardware shall be have substantially the same color and finish as the main lockset hardware.
• Size of the attached item shall not exceed 3 3/4 inches wide by 8 5/8 inches high.
• There may be only one such attached item on each door
• These rules apply only to permanently attached hardware and do not include wreaths, holiday decorations, etc.
• The following items are not allowed to be installed on the exterior of entry doors:
  • Mail slots
  • kick plates
  • address plates
  • numbering or lettering
  • decorative grating
  • decorative hinges
  • or other metal work.
